by GRW

**For Immediate Release**

The Grand Rapids Wanderers are excited to announce a new chapter for the club in naming long-time coach Mike Boogaart as our official new Women’s Arena Team Head Coach, along with becoming our new director of coaching for the club.

Grand Rapids, Mi – Club director, Pedro Sanchez had this to say about the transition. “From when I first met Mike, I already knew he was going to be a great fit. Having been dropped in a HC role unexpectedly in the first year of our Men’s program & he’s never looked back. I’ve never met a coach like this, one that is so dedicated to learning more and so willing to grow with the club. Trusting Mike with our talented Women’s group in a Women’s division that is about to see massive growth is the right plan to bring a PASL Women’s Championship to the City. Mike will also serve our club in a director of coaching capacity, which will aid our entire coaching staff growth and set us up with the right foundation to officially welcome academy teams this winter”.

Coach Boogaart had the following comments regarding the transition to the Women’s side. “The women’s game is something new to the arena game and growing rapidly. Many teams this next year will create women’s teams. My goal is to be the best in this growing area.  Being able to focus on a women’s team as well as placing the team in a league will take the women’s program up a level in training and competition”.

He continues; I have really enjoyed the Wanderers organization and the opportunity to learn the Arena game.  The Wanderers focus on what the future holds for the team and back it up with actions to support the teams and the fans. Wanderers have a great reputation in the Arena soccer world and really strive to bring the fans a good product of enjoyment”.

We also asked coach Boogaart about the addition of his role as Director Of Coaching for the Wanderers organization: “The Wanderers Organization has been growing every year reaching out to the community in new ways. Now I am thrilled that we are now stepping out to reach a wider audience for arena soccer.  Not only to watch but also to play.  Bringing youth teams and focusing on youth to play the game will not only gain future players but also increase the skill level of the players in the area and on the field.  The Wanderers has always focused on the arena game and giving the Grand Rapids area a place to enjoy and play soccer in the winter”.

The Wanderers move is aimed to continue to establish a strong foundation for growth. As GRW enters year four of a five-year growth plan. The establishment of youth and two adult programs that are competing for a league title are what our goals are set on.

To the end, with Coach Boogaart’s move to the Women’s side. We are opening up our public search for a Men’s Heach Coach effective immediately. We’re seeking a highly motivated individual with an extensive arena or futsal experience.
